In 1973, Arab oil producers slapped an embargo on the West. By the time it was over, oil prices had quadrupled. The stock market cratered, and the word ā€œstagflationā€ entered every investor’s vocabulary.

Fast forward to this past Saturday. The U.S. and Israel launched Operation Epic Fury. Iran’s Supreme Leader is dead. The Strait of Hormuz—the world’s most important oil chokepoint—is effectively closed. It feels like we’re watching a history documentary in real-time.

But here’s the thing most people get wrong: panicking is the only guaranteed way to lose money.

The question isn’t ā€œIs this 1973 all over again?ā€ The question is, ā€œWhat do I do with my money right now?ā€
